Very Fine Qajar Persian Jambiya Dagger with Carved Walrus - 7730

A very fine example of late18th Early 19th C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 10 ½ inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with very high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory. Classical ‘I’ shape and carved on both sides with human figures and faces and Arab inscriptions. Very good condition. Good age patina on the walrus grip. Newly made scabbard with the original brass chape.
