Up for sale is this Persian Shamshir sword, probably late 18 C. vintage, with a classical, curved blade, 31 inches long and wedge shaped cross section, forged from good high carbon steel.. The grips are of walrus ivory (with a small later replacement bone piece) The grip strap, cross guard and pommel cap are all steel. The grips are bound with a twisted steel wire over the upper part of the cross guard. Total length 37 inches. Good condition. A small blackened area near the blade tip. No scabbard. Very reasonable price.
