A very nice and rare, late 19 C., war shield of the Waganda people of Uganda. It is made of wood in oval shape covered with rattan bands, a front central wood cone and bound around with a leather strip. 36 inches long, 16 inches wide 9 inches high.. One tip of the shield is damaged and the rattan strips as well as the leather band are missing. Some other rattan strips are lost in time. Otherwise an excellent, very rare and unusual piece.
