Afghan Shamshir with Wootz Blade - 7786

Up for sale is this very unusual Shamshir sword, with a Persian made Wootz blade of classical Shamshir form, 31 inches long. The Afghan attribution comes from the handle shape, the cross guard and the pierced knuckle guard in the style of the semi military Afghan edged weapons issued to the Afghan military forces in the last quarter of the 19 C. The grips are bone, with horn pommel tips. Good condition. Wootz pattern is visible in many places but especially along the heat hardened edge. Shallow pitting on the blade with minor deeper pitted spots. One of the pommel horn tips is lightly distorted. No scabbard.
