Jambiya Dagger from Kurdistan with Persian Style Walrus Hilt - 7766

Up for sale is this very interesting Jambiya dagger from Kurdistan. A classical shape curved blade with pronounced central rib, 9 ½ inches long. The handle is also of a classical I shaped with straight lines wide pommel and cross guard. The unusual issue is the material and carving of the handle. It is cut from a massive piece of Walrus ivory (very un common in the Kurds arsenal) and it is carved in the Persian Qajar style of the mid to late 19 C. with the royal couple on the grip and many human figures all around the pommel and the cross-guard. Wood scabbard with leather cover and walrus ivory tip. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition.
