Kuba Dagger with Brass Blade - 7734

Up for sale is this African dagger with a brass made blade. It is probably from the Kuba tribe, central Zaire. Blade 10 inches well made from hammered brass with a good edge. The very shallow central rib is decorated with very fine geometrical design. The handle is wood covered with brass strip with a short steel chain attached to the pommel. Very good condition. Brass and copper blade on African weapons were highly regarded, sometimes more that steel blades, and were carried by the royalties and high ranking people of the tribes. This dagger is coming from a big private collection and an old label indicate that it was collected in July 1984. |
