Good Moroccan Jambiya / Koumaya Dagger - 7729

Up for sale is this very good and interesting Koumaya Dagger from Morocco, with a classical blade, double edged at its lower half and single edged at the top, with shallow fullers. The blade is of better quality that the usual blades found on similar daggers and it is engraved with somewhat crude engraving, with the shape of the Eiffel tower, and inscribed TUORIEFL , with spelling mistakes and both the T and the F reversed. It was probably inscribed locally in Morocco by the maker or the owner who were not so fluent in French. The handle is hardwood with silver pommel and silver collar, both deeply chiseled. The scabbard is heavy brass with silver locket and spiral silver strip along the scabbard, it is very beautifully chiseled with classical Moroccan design. Blade length 9 inches. Total length 15 ½ inches. Very good condition. |
