Very Old 18 C. Balkan Yataghan Sword Dated 1715 - 7717

A rather old yataghan, with a blade dated to 1128 ( 1715 in the Gregorian calendar). Good laminated blade, 24 inches long, dated and engraved with Arabic inscriptions on both faces. Grips made of massive pieces of Walrus ivory with very big side ears. Grip strap is made of gilded copper richly decorated with filigree work and set with big Coral stones and small Pearls. Wood scabbard with leather cover and later added sheet iron locket and chape. Very good condition to age. The walrus slabs are complete, un-cracked and not broken as usually happens with these type of grips. The gilding of the copper grip strip is mostly gone. Some losses to the scabbard leather and the wood is I\partially damaged by worm holes. It was smoke treated and is non active now
