Old, 17 C Indian Sword - 7674

A very old and rare combination of Hindu style straight sword and the oldest form of Islamic style handle. Probably a mid 17 C. or a bit later vintage. The straight blade is 31 inches long, heavy, double edged at its front part, reinforced with an 18 inches steel bar on its spine and a shorter one 5 ½ inches on its edge side. The whole steel handle incorporate a round disk shaped cross guard and knuckle guard. The guard and the pommel disks are pierced all around. The short curved pommel spike is in the Firangi swords style. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition to age. Excellent untouched patina on the blade and the handle. Minor de-lamination damage to the upper reinforcement bar and to the pommel disk. No scabbard.
