We offer for sale this very good example of a late 18th or very early 19C. Persian Jambiya. The 9 ½ inches curved blade is forged from Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with a central rib. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus cut entirely from the marble like inner sector of the ivory tusk and carved in the classical ‘I’ shape. Wood scabbard covered with beautifully tooled brown leather with a silver tip (later). Very good condition. Very nice age patina on the ivory. Some losses to the leather on the back side of the scabbard.The darken lines on the hilt are the natural structure of the ivory and not cracks.
