Very Fine and Long Wootz Khayber sword - 7543

The Khaybar sword (Also Known as Salawar Yatagan) was originally the common side arm of the Afrids people residing in the area of the Khayber pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it use was extended into Pakistan as well as India and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its straight blade, pronounce T spine cross section and tapering tip. This one is of Indian origin, with a massive 25 ½ inches long blade, forged from fine Indian Wootz steel and elaborately chiseled on its entire length and spine. The grips are ivory with brass bolsters and strap. This sword comes with its original leather covered scabbard with beautifully engraved tip. Total length 35 inches. Very good condition with minor losses to the scabbard leather. A very fine and complete piece. |
