A good old Moro Barong with a Chinese maker mark. The Barongs heavy leaf shaped blades is known to have superior cutting abilities. This blade is 12 ½ inches long heavy and signed with Chinese characters (Many sword smiths in the Philippines were of Chinese origin). The hilt is carved from a beautiful grained wood in the classical form, bound to the blade tang with a brass collar. The tip of the pommel is flat and not as common with Barongs handles. There is no scabbard. Very good condition. Blade with few minor discoloration spots, few old cracks to the wood grip. Surprisingly low price of this beautiful sword.
