Very Fine Silver Mounted Yataghan - 7553

Up for sale is this very fine Ytaghan sword, of Tuirkish origin, probably early 19 C. Very narrow and long blade, 27 ½ inches long, very slightly up-curving, with a narrow fuller just below the spine running from the first third of the blade almost to the very tip. The blade is struck with a maker stamp. Silver handle and bolsters, beautifully and elaborately chased. Chased, Heavy silver scabbard, also chased with typical Turkish / ottoman decorative style of the 19 C. Total length 34 inches. Very good condition. Blade with good patina, with a minor edge nick. The bolster are somewhat shortened. There are signs of repairs to the scabbard top and the scabbard very tip is damaged. A fine piece.
