Very Fine Wootz Syrian / Arab Saif / Shamshir Sword - 7551

This swords employs one of the heaviest blades we have seen on such weapons: 312inches long, with 7 inches back edge, with styled fullers, forged from very fine, dark and high contrast Persian wootz steel. The blade is probably 18C. or earlier. It is mounted with a classical Syrian / Arab style handle, with steel cross guard, steel wire binding, horn scales decorated with lead stars and rondels and a silver down curving pommel. Wood scabbard, black leather cover and silver chape and belt rings. Very good condition. This sword has seen its share of battles and ther are several small nicks on the edge from opponents swords. The tip is very slightly re-shaped. The scabbard is newly made. A fine heavy sword.
