Igorot Dagger / Spear Head Philippines - 7503


The Igorot people from the mountainous region of Luzon in the Philippines uses this dual purpose blade, as a dagger or as a spear head. It is also known as Hinalung. The heavy blade, spear shaped is 8 ½ inches long, beautifully forged in one piece with the handle from an old rasp. The grip is covered with braided rattan fibers. In its Dagger form it is housed in an open wood scabbard bound with copper wire. Total length (in scabbard0 13 inches. It is easily converted to a spear by mounting the hollow handle acting as a socket on a wooden pole. A very unusual item in a very good condition.
