Up for sale is this very fine and heavy Arab sword. The heavy blade, slightly curved and fullered is 31 inches long, forged from light contrast Sham wootz (A Turkish / Syrian watered steel of very light contrast). The handle is of classical shape, horn grips decorated with lead stars and brass nails bound to the tang with silver wire. Silver grip strap and big silver pommel cap. The cross guard is steel and of Persian style. Wood scabbard with large and heavy silver locket and chape. Total length 37 ½ inches. Very good condition. One of the cross guard langets is partially broken. A fine heavy sword of quality.
