A fine classical “YATAGHAN” from the Balkan with a 21 1/2 inches long blade inscribed with silver inlay with Arabic letters and decoration and dated to 1226 in the Islamic calendar (1811 in the Gregorian calendar). The grips with the side ears are made from silver beautifuly decorated in a typical ottoman silver work for the period. The grip strap and the blade collar are set with 16 red coral stones. Black leather coverd scabbard with top silver mount and steel bottom tip. The steel tip is probabbly an old replacment. Total length almost 29 inches. This is a very good quality Yataghan of high quality silver work.
