A very typical knife from Bosnia & Hertzegovina, signed and dated 1888, in the very short period of independence before the annexation to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The blade is straight, single edge, 8 inches long signed ‘Foca’ (A Bosnian city 50 km south East of Sarajevo) and dated with silver koftgari. The grips are ivory, set with brass dots and circles and red painted dots. The scabbard is wood covered with thin chased brass. Very good condition. Few of the inlay pieces on the grips are missing.
