Turkish Yataghan Sword with Silver Mounts - 5957

This fine Yataghan is of Turkish origin. Although it is not dated, we believe that it is from the late 18 or early 19 C. The blade is 26 inches long, marked with the maker mark and inscribed with Arabic letters. The handle is silver, beautifully chased and set with a small turquoise stone on each side. Wood scabbard covered with fabric and set with a silver locket and a later replaced brass chape. Total length ( in scabbard) 31 ½ inches. Very good condition. Soldered repairs on the pommel. One of the silver bolsters is damaged. The top cover of the bolster is missing. A very elegant piece. |
