Very Fine Turkish / Kurdish Jambiya Dagger - 0703

A dagger of good quality and decoration, of Turkish origin, most probably from East Turkey, with strong Kurdish / Iraqi influence. Late 19 Century. Good 12 inches curved blade with a central rib forged from fine Sham steel (Low contrast Wootz of Turkish / Syrian origin). Dark wood hilt mounted with silver collar, pommel and grip strips with fine filigree work and set with small Turquoise stones on the pommel cap. The scabbard is whole silver on wood, rich in filigree decoration of the utmost quality. A maker sign is soldered in fine siler wire on the back of the scabbard. 24 inches. Very good plus condition. |
