Persian Jambiya Dagger for the Ottoman Court - 0670

A very good Persian Jambiya dagger adapted to the Ottoman court. The carved walrus grip and the watered (wootz) blade are of classical Persian design and were most probably manufactured in Persia in the late 17 or early 18 Century. At some later date, probably mid 19 C it was fitted with a silver scabbard of Turkish form with Niello design, decorated with Ottoman symbols and with the ‘Tughra’ (the Royal stamp of the Sultan).
