Very Fine Burmese Presentation Sword with Wootz Blade - 7424

A sword of fine quality, probably a 19 C. presentation sword to a high ranking Burmese military officer. The sword is mounted on the base of an old 18 C. Persian heavy wootz blade, 32 inches long, of finest quality, with a high contrast pattern. The handle is a mix of a European style military sword with a long cross guard, and a finely carved elephant ivory grip in the local decoration style. Wood scabbard covered with colored velvet and set with big silver mounts. Very good condition of a very fine sword. The scabbard wood and velvet cover are restored later, but the silver fittings are original.
