Very Fine Wootz (Damascus) Persian Shamshir Sword - 7421

A Shamshir, the Eastern saber that for centuries enchanted the world and was copied in practically all armies of the western world. A heavy, deeply curved, wedge shape blade of minimal and simple design and yet a lethal slashing weapon in the experienced hand. Here we offer for sale a classical example. A 32 inches blade forged from very fine watered steel (Wootz, Damascus) with strong contrast clearly seen on both sides of the blades. Steel cross guard and pommel cap chiseled with Arabic inscription and ivory grips. Wood scabbard covered with black leather and with two belt ring also chiseled with Persian design. Total length 37 ½ inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots and battle scars on the blade with very few scratches remained from improper sharpening attempt. Scabbard partially restored and scabbard tip added later. |
