Fine Khayber Sword with Ivory Grips - 7404


The Khayber sword (Also Known as Salawar Yatagan) was originally the common side arm of the Afrids people residing in the area of the Khaybar pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it use was extended into Pakistan as well as India and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its straight blade, pronounce T spine cross section and tapering tip. This one is of Indian origin, with a massive 24 inches long, 2 inches wide blade. The grips are massive pieces of elephant ivory with silver bolsters and silver grip strap. This sword comes with its leather covered scabbard with silver tip and silver belt ring attachment. Total length (in scabbard) 30 ½ inches. The leather cover and the silver tip is a later replacement. Very fine condition. A very fine and complete piece.
