Georgia (Caucasus) Saber Sword Damascus - 7419


This one is a very interesting piece. Heavy very slightly up curving fullered blade, 31 inches long, light pattern welded steel and tempered edge. Wood grip with leather cover. Steel cross guard with brass decorated inlay. Wood scabbard with the original black leather cover and steel fittings inlaid in the same style as the cross guard. This sword is most probably of Georgian ( Caucasus) origin, early 19 C, 1820 or so. Total length (In scabbard) 35 inches. Good condition. Grip is a later replacements with leather losses and wood chips, partially painted to cover the leather losses. Scabbard tip loose. Scabbard leather worn, with light losses and open seams.
