Very Fine Sewar Dagger - Sumatra - 7352

We offer here for sale an old. mid 19 C. Sewar dagger / knife from central Sumatra. The Sewar is characterized by its heavy down curving blade, by the grip shape and specifically by the down extending protrusion from the scabbard mouth. Here the heavy blade is 9 ½ inches long, forged from good laminated steel with hardened edge. The grip is solid horn covered with beautifully chased gilded silver collar. The scabbard is wood with a big horn mouth, almost 4 inches long also partially covered with embossed and gilded silver decoration. Total length in scabbard 14 inches. Very good condition. Small damage to the silver cover of the scabbard protrusion. The pommel may have been covered with silver as well but now it is missing. An unusually fine knife.
