This is a very good and Moro Kris, probably 19 century. The straight heavy blade is 22 inches long, constructed from a pattern welded (Damascus) steel core welded between high carbon steel edges. . The grip is wood bound with some thread or fiber and secured to the blade with two silver clamps (Baca-Baca) and a silver collar. The scabbard is dark grained wood bound with two rattan bands. The top of the scabbard is carved in floral pattern and filled with white material. Very good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade. The grip binding is later to the blade and scabbard. Some age cracks and signs of repairs on the scabbard. An excellent sword and one of quality for any collection of Filipino weapons.
