A Nice 19C Ottoman Shamshir with Sham Damascus Blade - 7327


We offer here an Ottoman Shamshir sword. The 28 inches blade is forged from a Good sham Damascus steel. The Sham steel is a wootz pattern common in Turkey and Syria in the 18C and 19C. The grips are of nice light brown horn with a brass grip strap. The cross guard and belt ring attachments are from brass as well. The scabbard is of wood covered with black leather with the typical spiral stitching at the rear side. Good condition. Few light forging flaws. minor horn chips on the hilt, tip of scabbard missing (or worn). Total length 34 1/2 inches.
