A very large whole steel Jambiya from Persia, the Qajar period, late 19th century. The blade of typical style with its base chiseled in floral design and decorated with gold koftgary work. The blade dimensions are quite unusual, 15 inches compared to the usual 11 –12 inches. The “I” shaped hilt and the steel scabbard are also chiseled in the same floral design with two human figures at the tip. Quite an impressive item.
