Qajar Persian Jambiya with Carved Walrus hilt - 7297


A good example of late18th Early 19th C. Persian Jambiya. The 9 inches curved blade is beautifully forged with a central rib, from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory. Classical ‘I’ shape and carved on both faces with male and female figures and with Islamic inscription. The Blade has gold inlay decoration on both sides at the top. The scabbard is wood covered with tooled black leather and metal tip. Very good condition. The grip carving has a nice age patina. There are some blacken spots to the blade. Total length is14 inches
