Authentic Toko War Club from the Fiji Island. - 7278

It is very seldom that you see such rare items on the market at a really reasonable price.. This early 19 Century war club also known locally as Toko, and in the tribal collectors world as Pinapple Club , is coming from Fiji island. The 36 inches long, heavy club is carved from dark hardwood, usually taken from the root of the tree. The 4X4 inches head is perpendicular to the handle and is carved with lines of sharp teethes all around, ending with a conical spike. The bottom end has a clear phallic shaped. This item is coming from an old collection as can be determined from an old label glued on the handle. Good condition. Shining age patina. Worn teeth on the head and the tip of the spike is slightly shortened from an old breakage. Age cracks on the handle but still very solid. A real piece for the connoisseur of Ethnographic/Tribal artifact and the weapon collector. See also: G.C. Stone, Glossary... Page 184 fig 232 # 10. |
