Up for sale is this big and unusual Turkish Yatghan. The blade is 27 inches long, forged from laminated steel with hardened edge and spine. It is dated to 1224 (1809 in the Gregorian calendar). The mountings are later to the blade, probably late 19 C, and made from beautifully chased and engraved white metal. The handle is of special interest with very long side ears 5 inches tip to tip with the grip bound with twisted silver wires. Total length 35 ½ inches. Very good condition. Unusual piece.
