Very Fine Wootz (Damascus) Khayber Sword - 7246


The Khaybar sword (Also Known as Salawar Yatagan) was originally the common side arm of the Afrids people residing in the area of the Khaybar pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it use was extended into Pakistan as well as India and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its straight blade, pronounce T spine cross section and tapering tip. This one has a massive 18 ½ inches long blade, forged from Indian wootz (Crystalline) steel and decorated with gold and silver flowers in koftgari inlay. The grips are bone with steel bolsters and steel grip strap. This sword comes with its leather covered scabbard with long steel chape and steel carrying ring. Total length 27 inches. Good condition. The right bolster is a later replacement and it is slightly different from the left one. The leather cover is later. A very fine piece.
