Ethiopian Gurade Sword / Saber - 7217

The GURADE is the Ethiopian saber. They usually have European imported blades, mounted with typical Ethiopian horn hilt. This specific one has a 31 inches long thick blade, probably a secondary use of a European military saber but without any marking. The hilt is a single massive piece of a Rhino horn with a clear fibrous structure. The scabbard is tooled leather, with an up-curving tip typical to the Ethiopian sabers. Total length 37 inches. Good condition. Few small pitted spots and old sharpening signs on the blade and few edge nicks. The tip of the scabbard is worn and slightly damaged.
