A dagger of high quality and decoration, of Turkish origin, most probably from East Turkey, with strong Kurdish / Iraqi influence. Late 19 Century. Superb 10 ½ inches curved blade with a central rib forged from very fine wootz (Damascus) steel. Black horn hilt riveted to the blade tang through antique silver coins of the ottoman empire (worn and un identifiable). The scabbard is whole silver on wood, rich in filigree decoration of the utmost quality. Total length (in scabbard) 17 ½ inches.
