Whole Silver Jambiya Dagger - Morocco - 0537

A Jambiya from Morocco (locally called Koumaya). Its shapes are derived from a very interesting mix of influences of Arab Jambiyas and Hispano-Moorish style of daggers. These Jambiya daggers are carried with a baldric over the right shoulder. This specific exemplar is of very unusual heavy whole silver construction, beautifully chiseled in a floral design. Of special interest are the old silver Moroccan coins welded into the silver work of both the hilt and the scabbard. One is shown above.
