A dagger of high quality and decoration, of Turkish origin, most probably from East Turkey, with strong Kurdish / Iraqi influence. Late 19 Century. Superb 9 inches curved blade with a central rib forged from very fine wootz (Damascus) steel. Black horn hilt set with six silver buttons decorated with fine granulation work. The scabbard is whole silver on wood, rich in filigree decoration of the utmost quality. Total length (in scabbard) 16 inches. Very good condition.
