Large 19 C. Indo-Persian Ceremonial Battle Axe - 7131


This is a good representative of a whole family of ceremonial weapons appeared in the second half of the 19 C. Big, heavy blade 12 inches tip to tip, 9 inches high, perforated along its edges and etched, chiseled and inlayed with thick brass human figures and Hindu (?) inscription. 4 inches spike on the other side. Wood shaft. Good condition. Originally there were two additional small dome like constructions near the spike which are now missing.
