Up for sale is this ornamental axe from Africa, probably used by the Chokwe people of Zaire and Angola. Such axes were part of the outfit of all adult males and were carried suspended over the shoulder. This specific specimen with the engraved and decorated haft is a rare version and was carried by men of authority. Blade 5 X 2 ½. Haft length 23 inches. Very good condition.
