The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is of top quality, with a relatively good 9 inches blade and a massive grip carved from a single piece of Rhino horn with a clear fibrous structure. The scabbard and grip mounts are made of finely worked silver. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. A very good high quality piece.
