Panabs, Execution Sword Machete, Philippines - 7049


The ‘Panabas’ is a long, heavy, two handed jungle knife, used by the Moro’s of the Philippines and supposedly was used also for execution. The blade comes in various shapes, (See also: Robert Cato, Moro Swords fig. 55 ). The massive blade is 16 inches long, 3 ½ inches wide at the tip. It up-curving with the edge on the down facing side. The grip is faceted and engraved hardwood, bound with braided rattan .. Excellent condition. A very rare item and an authentic old piece, without repairs or restorations, highly sought after by collectors of Filipino weapons.
