Up for sale is this very early and rare Turkish Kard knife, late 17 or early 18 C. The blade is heavy, single edge, 9 inches long forged from very fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel and decorated with gold koftgari decoration. Jade handle. Total length 13 ½ inches. Very good condition to age. Minor blackened spots on the blade and partially erased koftgari. The small recesses on the grip may have been set with gem stones which are now missing.
