Very Good Execution Sword Keris Sumatra - 7007

An Execution Keris dagger / sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 18 inches, narrow but thick and sturdy with acute tip. The hilt is beautifully carved horn. The mendak (the small metal ring/fitting below the hilt) is missing. The scabbard is high polish grained wood with a black horn tip. Total length, in scabbard 23 inches. Very Good condition, only a minor wood chip at the scabbard throat and a minor horn chip on the grip. It is a very rare version of the Indonesian traditional sword and you certainly do not see many genuine swords like this on the market.
