Up for sale is this very rare sword of the Batak people of Sumatra, also known as Piso Sanalenggam . The 18 inches blade has a straight back, dropping down at its end, and a up-curving edge widest at its lower part. Horn grip split at the pommel, brass collar and a painted and carved wood scabbard. A similar sword (with a slightly different scabbard) is shown in: Albert G. Van Zonneveld, Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago , page 109, Fig. 431. Very good condition.
