The Podang, sometimes also known as Piso Podang is a sword common to Sumatra and specifically to the Batak People. The influence of the Indian Tulwar sword on its specific hilt shape is evident. This one has a single edged fullered and curved blade, 24 inches long with a 5 inches back edge. The Solid white metal hilt is of a typical form with a reverse cup shape pommel. Wood scabbard with black horn fittings. Very good condition, Patches of blackened areas on the blade with good patina and minor pitted spots near the tip.
