Early 19 C. Arab Wahabite Jambiya Dagger - 6704


This long Dagger / Short sword represent a class of Arab jambiya’s of its own. The long curved blade and the strong “I” shaped grip is characteristic to this class, which was the favored side arm of the Wahabite Arabs. However, In the 19 and later the 20 Century, it was spread all over the Arabian Peninsula mainly in the Central and West regions of Najd and the Hejaz. The blade is massive, deeply curved, 22 inches long with a heavy central rib. The hilt is steel, with two horn slabs riveted to the steel tang with three big rivets, covered with a big silver buttons and decorated with silver nails. The scabbard is covered with leather. Two steel rings are attached to the scabbard, used as a belt attachment. To carry the dagger on the front of the belly in an almost horizontal position. Very good condition. Minor chips to the edges of the horn grips. This is a real and very impressive fighting weapon. All parts are authentic and original, probably from the early 19 Century.
