Very Rare Ayda Kati Sword of the Koorg - 6006


The Ayda Katti is the national sword of the Coorg of Malabar, the South West coastal area of India. It is one of the rarest items in the Indian arsenal and of a very peculiar shape. It reminds in a way an agricultural tool, but it is a real weapon and a deadly one in the experienced hands. The blade of this one is of a sickle shape 11 ½ inches long and more than 3 inches wide at its widest point. The handle is horn with a heavy steel bolster and the kite shaped pommel is also horn. 18 inches total length. Good plus condition. Minor pitted areas on the blade.
